Cleaned, Polished & Restored Floors
Our large feature film showcases completed limestone, marble and travertine floors and the transformations achieved through professional cleaning, polishing and restoration.
Specialist limestone floor cleaning across Sussex and Hampshire, with diamond honing, polishing, repairs, restoration and sealing for worn natural-stone floors.
We restore limestone floors throughout East Sussex, West Sussex and Hampshire, from coastal homes in Brighton & Hove, Seaford and Eastbourne to properties around Worthing, Horsham, Chichester, Arundel, Petworth, Portsmouth, Southampton, Fareham and Andover. Our work covers domestic floors, period properties, larger residential spaces and commercial premises.
Every floor is assessed individually. We consider the limestone, grout, existing finish, residues and previous sealers before deciding whether the floor needs deep cleaning, mechanical refinement or a fuller restoration. For an overview of our methods and treatment options, visit our Limestone Floor Cleaning & Restoration service page.

Fine grit, ingrained soil, detergent residues and tired sealers can leave limestone looking darker, flatter and harder to maintain. Grout lines often hold additional contamination because they are more porous and slightly recessed.
Professional deep cleaning removes contamination from the tiles and grout so the true condition of the stone can be assessed. Where the surface is sound, cleaning followed by an appropriate impregnating sealer may be sufficient. Scratches, acid etching, lippage, worn traffic lanes or failed repairs usually require mechanical restoration rather than more aggressive cleaning.

Cleaning removes contamination; restoration corrects physical deterioration in the stone. Specialist diamond abrasives allow us to refine damaged limestone in controlled stages, reducing scratches, etch marks, uneven wear and other surface defects before the final finish is produced.
Depending on the floor, our work can include:
The treatment sequence is matched to the stone and its condition rather than applying the same process to every limestone floor.
Progressive diamond honing mechanically refines the limestone surface. Coarser stages can reduce wear, etching and scratches; finer stages progressively improve clarity and finish.
The target is not automatically a high gloss. Many limestones suit a natural honed or satin appearance, while others can be polished more highly. We agree the finish with you and stop at the appropriate level for the stone and room.
Cracks, holes, damaged joints and isolated defects can often be repaired during restoration. The repair material and method are selected to suit the limestone and surrounding finish, with the aim of blending the repair rather than masking the floor beneath a coating.
Darkened grout can make an otherwise attractive limestone installation look tired. Our cleaning process treats tiles and grout as one floor, removing embedded soil where practical and improving the overall appearance before sealing or mechanical restoration is completed.
After cleaning or restoration, an appropriate impregnating sealer can reduce the rate at which liquids and contamination enter the stone without creating an artificial surface coating. Limestone still needs suitable maintenance afterwards.
Avoid acidic cleaners, vinegar, limescale removers, harsh bleach, abrasive products and unsuitable household detergents because they can etch the stone or leave difficult residues.

A floor affected mainly by ingrained soil, residue or darkened grout may respond very well to professional deep cleaning. Physical scratches, acid etching, worn traffic lanes, lippage or a deteriorated finish usually need diamond honing or polishing because cleaning alone cannot correct damage within the stone.
Send clear photographs, your postcode and approximate floor area for initial advice. Larger or more complex projects may benefit from a site survey before the final treatment is confirmed.
Many scratches and etch marks can be removed or substantially reduced with diamond restoration. Acid etching is different from staining: acids react with limestone and physically alter the surface, so the dull mark often has to be mechanically refined rather than simply cleaned.
Often, yes. Older limestone can look beyond recovery when it is dull, heavily soiled, uneven or difficult to maintain, but the right combination of deep cleaning, repairs, diamond honing, polishing and sealing can frequently restore the floor without replacing it.
Pricing depends on floor size, condition and the processes required. Deep cleaning and sealing is different from repairing damage or carrying out multi-stage diamond restoration. For a free initial quotation, send photographs of the full floor and problem areas, your Sussex or Hampshire postcode, and the approximate floor area.

Our before-and-after photographs show how professional restoration can revive dull, scratched and worn limestone while making routine maintenance easier.

Cost depends on floor size, condition and the treatment required. Deep cleaning and sealing differs from a floor needing repairs, stain treatment or extensive diamond honing. Send photographs, your postcode and approximate floor area for an initial quotation.
If the problem is mainly ingrained dirt or residues, deep cleaning may be sufficient. Scratches, acid etching, worn areas or an uneven finish can require diamond honing or polishing.
Many scratches and etch marks can be removed or substantially reduced with diamond restoration. The achievable result depends on the depth of damage, the limestone and the finish required.
Yes. Grout can hold significant contamination and is treated as part of the complete floor-cleaning process where appropriate.
Where appropriate, an impregnating sealer is applied after the floor is clean and prepared. It helps reduce absorption but does not make limestone maintenance-free.
Often, yes. Floors that appear dull, heavily soiled or difficult to maintain can frequently be transformed with the right combination of cleaning, repairs, honing, polishing and sealing.
No. Not every limestone floor should have a high-gloss finish. We can retain or create a natural honed, matt, satin or polished appearance depending on the stone and your preference.
It depends on the size and condition of the floor and the processes required. After seeing photographs and assessing the project, we can give you a clearer indication of the likely programme.
