These newly installed vinyl floors at a pharmaceutical facility in Sandwich, near Deal and Ramsgate in Kent, required professional deep cleaning and sealing following extensive refurbishment works.
Although the vinyl flooring was new, further construction work and the installation of pharmaceutical packing machinery had taken place after the floors were laid. This left the surfaces requiring a thorough final clean before they could be sealed, protected and prepared for use.
**Deep Cleaning Newly Installed Vinyl Flooring**
We began by thoroughly deep cleaning the vinyl floors to remove dirt, dust, installation residue and contamination left behind during the refurbishment and machinery installation.
Careful preparation was particularly important on this project, as the floors needed to be completely clean before the protective seal coats could be applied.
**Working Carefully Around Pharmaceutical Machinery**
An additional challenge was working around the newly installed pharmaceutical packing machinery. We had to take particular care during both the cleaning and sealing process to ensure no floor seal came into contact with any part of the machinery, including around the feet and bases of the machines.
This required careful application in the areas immediately surrounding the equipment while still achieving a consistent protective finish across the vinyl flooring.
**Applying a Protective Seal**
Once the vinyl had been cleaned, rinsed and allowed to dry correctly, we applied a protective seal to the flooring. This provided a durable sacrificial surface designed to protect the newly installed vinyl from everyday wear, scuffs and marks and make future maintenance easier.
Machine Rooms, Clean Room & Changing Areas
The project covered a substantial area of the pharmaceutical complex, including three machine rooms, a clean room, changing room and entrance corridor.
Our two-man team completed the work over three days, including weekend working, allowing the floor preparation and sealing to be carried out around the requirements of the facility and the wider refurbishment programme.
