Marble Vanity Top Polishing & Restoration – Woking, Surrey

This marble vanity top at a property in Woking, near Guildford and Weybridge in Surrey, receive professional maintenance from us each year.

Because we regularly maintain the marble, the surfaces were generally in good condition. However, they had developed the usual light etch marks caused by everyday bathroom products such as cleaning solutions, aftershaves and perfumes.

Removing Etch Marks from Marble Vanity Tops

Even correctly sealed marble can still suffer from etching. A stone sealer helps protect against staining, but it cannot prevent the chemical reaction that occurs when certain acidic or alkaline products come into contact with marble.

We diamond honed the affected areas to remove the etch marks and restore a smooth, consistent surface.

Diamond Honing & Polishing the Marble

Once the etching had been removed, we continued through the diamond honing and skimming stages before progressively diamond polishing the marble with increasingly finer abrasives.

The vanity tops were then powder polished to achieve a deep, high-gloss finish before being professionally sealed on completion.

Protecting the Bathrooms While We Work

Restoring marble vanity tops can be a detailed and time-consuming process, particularly when working around sinks, taps, walls and bathroom fittings.

Before starting, we carefully protected the surrounding walls and areas with plastic sheeting to contain water and polishing slurry and minimise any mess during the restoration process.

Once both marble vanity tops had been restored, polished and sealed, they looked fresh and almost like new again. The high-polished finish beautifully complemented both bathrooms.
