Floor Polishing Services
Limestone, Marble, Travertine & Terrazzo Floor Cleaning, Polishing & Restoration
Genuine restoration project · Weybridge
This beautiful marble floor in Weybridge, near Esher and Cobham in Surrey, had become dull and lifeless following a previous treatment by another company.
It appeared that an overly coarse cleaning pad had been used on the marble, leaving a slight orange-peel texture across the surface. A wax coating had then been applied, which gave the marble an unnatural, slightly plastic-looking appearance. Unfortunately, the photographs don't fully capture these problems in the way they could be seen in person.
**Removing the Wax and Orange-Peel Effect**
Fortunately, our diamond skimming process was able to remove the existing wax coating while also smoothing and refining the orange-peel effect on the surface of the marble.
This allowed us to work directly with the natural stone again and create a smooth surface ready for professional polishing.
****Diamond Polishing to a Mirror Finish****
After diamond skimming, we progressively diamond polished the marble using increasingly finer grades of specialist diamond abrasives.
The floor was then powder polished to create a deep, mirror-like finish, restoring the natural clarity, colour and beauty of the marble without relying on an artificial wax coating.
Finally, the marble was professionally sealed to help protect the newly restored surface.
**Restoring the Marble Landings**
We used the same diamond skimming and polishing process on the marble stair landings above the main floor.
Because of their position, we installed protective sheeting around the balustrades to prevent water and polishing slurry from reaching the floors, walls and surrounding areas below.
The marble stairs themselves were still in good condition, so there was no need to carry out unnecessary restoration work on them this time.
The finished transformation was excellent, replacing the dull, wax-coated appearance with a smooth, natural and highly polished marble finish. The customer was extremely happy with the result.
